1. Ellie Clare’s Journey from Pain to Passion

"I was always labelled a troublemaker at school," Ellie Clare recalls, reflecting on the early challenges she faced in the academic world. Despite struggling with most subjects, Ellie found solace and success in creative outlets like art, woodworking, and design. "Whenever I got into the art room or the woodworking, even the design in graphics class, I always thrived."

After school, life took a different turn. Pressured into finding a stable job, Ellie felt trapped and unfulfilled. "I never felt whole, never felt happy," she admits. But fate intervened in the form of a severe accident that left her with a broken back. Unable to continue with her job, Ellie decided to pick up her camera again. "With pain that was debilitating, the camera gave me a reason to get out of bed and eventually became my full-time job."

"When I had a broken back, it was very easy to just lie in bed and give up on life," Ellie reflects. The camera became more than just a tool—it was a lifeline. "I had to walk regularly to prevent long-lasting, permanent damage to my discs. The camera gave me that reason, gave me the courage to walk through the pain, gave me the inspiration to make lemonade when life gave me a heap of lemons."

2.  Karen Lambeck - The Sweet Art of Healing: My Journey with Treat-Making as Therapy

Art takes many forms, and for me, it’s the creation of healthy treats that nourish both body and soul. What began as a hobby to unwind quickly grew into a therapeutic practice, transforming simple, wholesome ingredients into something that brings joy to others. Over time, treat-making became not just a passion but a way to connect with others and offer a little indulgence without guilt.

During a particularly challenging time in my life, I found solace in the kitchen, making a batch of raw vegan brownies. The simple, repetitive actions of mixing and shaping the treats became a meditative process, bringing me a sense of calm and clarity. But beyond the creation itself, the visual aspect of decorating these treats brought me a deep sense of satisfaction. Whether it was a swirl of chocolate, a sprinkle of nuts, or a delicate arrangement of fruit, each detail added to the joy of the process. The real magic happens when I see the delight on someone’s face as they receive one of these beautifully crafted treats, whether for a little self-indulgence or a special celebration with loved ones. The joy is truly on both sides—the giving and the receiving—creating a connection that’s as nourishing as the treats themselves.

Through workshops and customer interactions, I’ve seen the healing power of this art form extend beyond myself. Watching others discover the joy of creating their own healthy treats and hearing how it has become a comforting ritual in their lives has been incredibly rewarding. For anyone struggling with mental or emotional challenges, I encourage exploring a creative outlet—whether baking, painting, or writing—as a way to bring joy, clarity, and healing into daily life.
